Trust Scholars Gather in Nha Trang

Twenty-one Trust scholarship students, graduates and volunteers met on the weekend of 22-23 September in Nha Trang for the second Trust Scholarship Programme Retreat.

Following on from the success of the first Retreat in 2015 in Hoi An, this gathering in Nha Trang focussed on building a Trust scholarship “community”. For many students, this was a chance to meet others for the first time; for graduates and volunteers, it was an opportunity to renew acquaintanceships and catch up with old friends.

On the Saturday afternoon, 22 September, new graduates were each presented with a quaich (a traditional commemorative Scottish made of pewter) engraved with their name and year of graduation. Volunteer Thuy Binh, Hang Anh and Nga received crystal vases. On their own initiative, the students presented Philip Gray senior with a framed portrait of Philip David Gray made from rice.

In addition to a discussion of ways of encouraging and fostering a positive Trust community, Retreat participants shared several meals together and also engaged in team-building games on the Nha Trang beach.

All the participants commented on the success of this well-organised event and look forward to the next Retreat. Danang in 2021?
