Update: 3 October 2020

Due to circumstances beyond our control, stage two of the scholarship application process has had to be delayed. We now expect an announcement of the scholarships by 17 November. Applicants on the shortlist, and who will be invited for interview, will be contacted soon.

The Philip David Gray Memorial Trust for Vietnam was established in 2005 to support long-term improvement in Vietnam in terms of poverty reduction, healthcare, education and national infrastructure.

The Trust’s main activity is a programme of scholarships for deserving Vietnamese students attending Vietnamese universities. Since its inception in 2008, the scheme has helped a total of 37 students of whom 25 have graduated successfully and are now contributing, each in his or her own way, to the improvement of Vietnam.

The Trust is a lasting memorial to the life and work of Philip David Gray who, at the time of his death in 2005, was a member of the energy infrastructure team of the World Bank in Vietnam. Philip was committed to development that makes a difference to the lives of ordinary people and the Trust aims to continue its work in the same spirit.
